I think I should always refer to my knitting as FFO’s (finally finished objects) as opposed to FO’s - what do you think?

They fit well - I knit skinny invisible elastic into the ribbing at the top, so they don’t fall down. These took almost 4 balls of DG Confetti and were knit toe up. Frequent trying on by the victim intended user made for a custom fit!
While they were fun to knit, I don’t plan on knitting another pair any time soon! Well, not this pattern anyway!

I didn’t take into account that bamboo yarn actually stretches when it hangs and so now the plan is to take about an inch out of the top of it, because as it is now the armholes are too deep, the V is TOO deep and the length is now off by about an inch and a half. I love this top and the way the yarn feels, so it shouldn’t sit for too long before it’s fixed. If I hated it that’d be a whole OTHER story called RIBBY SHELL GOES TO THE FROGPOND!
BTW - Ribby Shell is being modelled by the skinnier of the two dress dummies that live in my house. The other one is upstairs and I just wasn’t into navigating the plastic dropcloths while carrying my body double! Which is why the shell looks more like a vest at the moment - it’s too big for the poor thing. I need to name these dummies.
hmmm… contest?

This was finished during my blogging hiatus. It’s the Pinwheel Baby blanket that so many knitting bloggers have already completed. Knit from King Cole Candy DK (2×290m in colour 155 Minto) for the body and Sirdar Snuggly DK (2 1/2 50gm balls of colour 201 Iris) for the ruffle. The ruffle I just kind of made up as I went along, after looking at a ruffle pattern in Knitting on the Edge. I was kind of surprised at how much yarn I ended up using for that ruffle, but it really added a nice touch. I’m not a big fan of acrylic yarns, but these two balls of King Cole had been in the shop all alone for so long that I just finally decided that they really needed someone to knit something with them. It’s a fairly soft yarn thanks to the nylon content, but it squeeked on the needles, which I found really annoying. By the time I was completing the last rounds of the ruffle I was knitting with 2 circulars – a 35” and a 29”, with just under 2,000 stitches to cast off. Crazy!
I love how it turned out, and will probably knit this pattern again sometime.
Don’t forget to click the thumbnail for a photo of the entire blanket!

This is Kaiti’s cabled bag, based on a popular pattern floating around several knitting boards. Click the thumb to see it up close and personal in a pop up window.
I loved knitting with this yarn, and will provide all the details when I post the finished product.
However, before I get to that stage there’s a small detail that needs addressing. I thought I could just attach the bag by wrapping the yarn around the handle, like with the green cable clutch I knit earlier. But the bumps on these plastic bamboo handles won’t let me do that, and Kaiti wants these handles. So I’m thinking of just picking up stitches at either end and knitting a garter stitch band that I can wrap over the handle to the back and then stitch down.Any other ideas out there?
The other little accessory is a belt (also for Kaiti) and the yarn is interesting – it’s linen wrapped in nylon. It looks and feels like suede and I am really liking the way this looks. I have about 16” knit, and plan on adding a long fringe with beads as a way of tying it up. The stitch is braided openwork, and while this is fast to knit, I am finding myself getting a sort of friction burn from the yarn. So I’m taking a break from it today.
Besides, I have to figure out what I am wearing tonight because the mister is taking me to see Sarah McLachlan in concert! Ironically Kaiti’s sweetie also has tickets, and while they aren’t sitting near us, we are going down and back to the concert together. A double date with my youngest daughter – who’d have thunk it!
P.S. for those of you who don’t knit and miss my old blog – Miss K blogged about her Dad’s birthday HERE.
