Book Meme

I was tagged by Liana for a book meme (haven’t done this in a long while, and I think the last time it was a book on CSS that I ended up posting from)!

The rules:

  1. Pick up the nearest book.
  2. Turn to page 123.
  3. Find the fifth sentence.
  4. Post the next three sentences.
  5. Tag five people and acknowledge who tagged you.

I have a pile of books sitting close to me, the top of the pile (and nearest) is actually 200 Crochet Blocks by Jan Eaton, so let’s move down the pile, shall we?  smile

Next book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s all about following your dreams, and has been written in the form of a fable. It’s not something I’d usually read, but it is keeping my interest. (recommended to me by my daughter, Miss K).

That she was waiting for him, a woman awaiting a courageous man in search of his treasure. From that day on, the desert would represent only one thing to her: the hope for his return.

“Don’t think about what you’ve left behind,” the alchemist said to the boy as they began to ride across the sands of the desert.

booksOf course I never read one book at a time EVER, so I thought I’d mention that I’m also currently reading The Other Boleyn Girl, by Philippa Gregory. I’m glad it wasn’t the closest book next to me because I’m only on page 109 and I would have hated to read ahead (despite the fact that I’ll probably pass pg. 123 tonight, I try not to read ahead for any reason). I used to be really bad at reading the middle and end of a book before reading the beginning. Odd - I know!

I just finished reading Die with Me, a murder mystery by Elena Forbes and the next book on my list (for anyone still reading this) is The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O’Farrell.

HMMM - who to tag? I think I’ll pass on tagging anyone specific, mostly because I post so sporatically here that I doubt there are 5 regular readers left to tag. But if you want to let me know what you’re reading, please do so in the comments!

Of course between all this reading there is knitting. I am in the midst of all the little finishing details I tend to leave far too long, so I’m finishing a ruffle on one thing, FINALLY knitted the neckband on another (photos as soon as I can get Miss K to put it on), and some sewing of linings for some bags.

Then it’s onto new projects!

Meme - 6 weird things

Just because I need to post something cheery here. Saw this on Bonne Marie’s blog (who saw it on Theresa’s blog...)

Six Weird Things about me...

  1. I always put my clothes on in the exact same order. Or maybe that’s not weird and everyone does that?
  2. My legs and feet are 2 different sizes (because of a childhood surgery). It’s not obvious unless I’m nekkid, so you won’t see the differences any time soon!
  3. Horror movies absolutely scare me to death (even the really cheesy ones), but I still insist on watching them - usually when I am home alone too, which is really dumb.
  4. I still miss my first car, a 1972 VW Bug.
  5. I can talk about absolutely nothing for hours, but ask me about something I am actually knowledgeable about and it’s guaranteed I’ll be tongue-tied in minutes, including forgetting basics like my own name, address or (like last night) - what kind of camera I own.
  6. I can’t think of a sixth thing, so I asked my daughter. She couldn’t think of anything either - I think she’s just being nice because it’s almost Christmas.

I’m tagging nobody, because at this time of the year everyone is so busy (and besides, I usually hate being tagged). SO - if you decide to do this one, put your list on your blog and leave me a comment here so I can go see what’s weird about you!  tongue rolleye
