just passing time

image

Lately I’ve had a hard time getting a handle on who I am anymore.

As children grow and need you no more (or maybe I should just say less and in different ways) you really find yourself at odds. Or at least I do and I couldn’t put words to it until I read this post by Cari (Dogs Steal Yarn).

Suddenly I had words and was about to leave all of them on her comment form!  rolleyes

A lot of the reason for my lack of blog posts is this feeling that while I am more comfortable in my skin than I’ve ever been, I am completely unsure of how to express this new person that is emerging.

So I’ve just kept to myself more while trying to figure out where my life is going next. That’s a new thing for me (the keeping quiet thing is something I am not known for)!

Hower, today I do know where I’m going and I promise to post photos of my little adventure once I’m home again, but for now I have to get going because I’m already late.

Have a good day everyone!

stupid stupid cats

imageThis is our kitty litter box. Doesn’t look like one, does it?

They go up the stairs and make a right and there’s the litter. When they are done their business and hop out and run down the stairs, it knocks the litter off their feet, keeping *most* of the litter in the box and not all over our floors.

Now this worked great until this morning, when one of the little darlings decided to pee up tight against the walls (inside the dome), and pushed her little butt tight enough again the top to dislodge it just enough so that the pee ran down the outer wall and all over my floor. So I’ve been having a grand time cleaning that all up.  mad

Actually for the most part this particular brand works better than any I’ve come across so far, and even has a little bit of style (which I know all cat owners appreciate, right)? But now I know that when the litter is changed it is imperative to make sure that the top and bottom halves are pushed tightly together, or there will be problems.

This isn’t a paid post or anything like that, in case you’re wondering. I’ve been meaning to mention how much I like this thing since we first bought it, and never had the opportunity. I figured taking a break after emptying, scrubbing and disinfecting the box and the floor was as good a time as any. In case you are wondering, it’s called a Booda Dome Clean Step and I give it 3 out of 4 stars!

Toradol is my friend

I’m getting Toradol injections, since the usual treatment of alternating ice and heat packs and regular doses of ibuprofen (aka Advil or Motrin) wasn’t working for my latest case of sciatica. I have a bulging disc that is causing my left leg and foot to be totally numb as well. So I can’t even drive myself to appointments, which makes me a little crazy since I don’t like being dependent on anyone (yes, I really would rather “do it myself"). So this has been going on since about last Tuesday, but got really bad Friday. It amazes me that I look forward to these shots in the behind, but they hurt a lot less than the sciatica and provide fairly long lasting relief.

I have limited time online because there is no way I can sit comfortably (and the pain meds are really making it difficult to concentrate). I am weaning myself off of that medication however, and hope to be a little closer to my own routine by the end of this week.

No comments on the photo of the Cedar Waxwing tells me that folks are tiring of the nature photos.  long face  I just have a hard time getting excited about photoshoots with yarn these days. I have several projects well underway, including some crochet (yes, I got seduced by the ripple).

Time to go lay down. I hope everyone is well in their corners of the globe.
