TOO MUCH INFORMATION?

selfportrait
What to say about myself? Mom, wife, proudly Canadian. More hippy than hipster. Passionate knitter. Good friend. Lapsed photographer, due in part to a broken leg in April 2010. Off my feet til probably mid-July!

I believe in treating everyone the way you would want yourself to be treated. Over my 50+ years of life I've discovered there's a lot of people out there who don't walk the walk or live the talk. I believe that inner ugliness eventually affects the outer shell. I don't suffer fools gladly, because life is just too short.

I live about 30 minutes east of Vancouver, BC in a small town (Maple Ridge) in a tiny neighbourhood surrounded by farmland and mountains with my husband and youngest daughter.

I love to read. My favourite author is Diana Gabaldon and I've recently become a fan of Stephenie Meyer. Thanks to her Twilight series I lost all interest in everything BUT the books for about 6 weeks (the time it took me to read all 4, including the wait time for the last book to be released, and for my youngest daughter to finish reading it so that I could get my hands on it)! My reading list is long and eclectic - whatever I pick up that holds my interest usually gets read at least once. I personally believe you can never own too many books. Just a few of mine are listed on library thing, I doubt I'll ever have time to list them all.

I also love photography, knitting and sewing knitting, photography and sewing, lately in that order. There just aren't enough hours in the day for all things I'd love to do.

My camera is a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT, (aka the Canon EOS 350D). My lenses include a Canon 50mm f/1.8 II, the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6mm III USM telephoto zoom lens, and the kit lens - a Canon EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom. Recently I purchased a Sigma 10mm f/2.8 FISHEYE lens which has me anxious to get on my feet again and taking photos.

I need to look into a new flash, my old one works, but isn't synched to the camera, so involves a lot of fiddling on my part. I'd like to learn more of the technical side of photography and more about lighting.

I have a tattoo and am thinking about getting another one. Problem is how to combine my love of photography and knitting into one tattoo!

I am a coffee whore. Chocolate and I are joined at the hip. Seriously. You can see it sitting there, just under whatever I'm wearing. Aside from those two vices my diet leans more towards vegetarian than carnivore, but that doesn't mean I can't grill a mean steak when company is coming (won't eat it, but I.CAN.COOK)! I love to bake, but don't bake like I used to. Everyone is watching those calories!

BLOG NOTES

This blog is about my life, my family and my current obsessions (again - knitting, photography and maybe even sewing), and whatever else I feel like throwing into the mix. Problem with life is that it frequently interferes with blogging. Problem with blogging is I tend to be a very lazy blogger.

SITE NOTES

This is my personal playground. I bought a "dot CA" as a salute to being Canadian. I used my name because I felt like it.

The blog runs on ExpressionEngine Core. Additional modules include Link List. Plugins include dyno_cat (for category/sub-category control). The Expression Engine Community Forums are a great place to pick up a lot of little tips and tricks. I highly recommend going to them if you get stuck with EE, the people are great. As for me, in the past I've used Blogger, Greymatter, MT, pMachine (free and pro versions) and briefly toyed with Wordpress. There's a bit of a learning curve with EE, but that's good - my brain can always use a good workout!
